BOSKOP DAM NATURE RESERVE
General
Boskop Dam and Nature Reserve is located in the Mooi River valley 17 km north of the town of Potchefstroom a short distance from the R501 to Carltonville.
The dam, which is set in rolling grasslands serves as an important recreational destination for the many communities within close proximity. The reserve is noted for outdoor recreation - apart from angling, opportunities for yachting, canoeing, birding and game viewing are also offered.
The dam and its surroundings harbour a rich bird population and the reserve's wildlife includes black wildebeest, eland, springbok, red hartebeest, zebra and blesbok. Boskop is probably best known as an angling water and is host to a number of fishing competitions. A camping site and picnic site add to the appeal of the dam. Game viewing and birdwatching on the reserve are also popular attractions. Boskop is an ideal weekend destination for either campers or for a one day excursion into the country and a leisurely picnic beside the dam.

Generally mild to hot but winter nights can be extremely cold.
