COOKES LAKE RESERVE
General
Cookes Lake offers an ideal stopover for caravans and campers. Ablution facilities and electrical points are available. Spend a few days fishing in the lake or bird watching. Game viewing can be undertaken in the adjacent Mafikeng Game Reserve. Day visitors are welcome for picnicking and fishing. Have a barbecue, camp under the stars, get a taste of our local bird-life or enjoy a game drive in the Mafikeng Game Reserve.
Backpacker accommodation by The Scene:
Two self-contained bungalows with fitted kitchen and bathroom. The bungalows are designed by taking the best bits of local building designs from different cultures. To reach Cookes Lake turn into the tourist information centre located on the R503 at the eastern entrance to Mafikeng and drive past the front of the information centre building to the entrance to the reserve. Entrance to the Mafikeng Game Reserve is through the main game reserve gate off Jacaranda Drive in Mafikeng.

This caravan park and camping site is conveniently located on the southern boundary of the Mafikeng Game Reserve and has 24 hours service.
