THE FRIENDLY ROUTE

The Friendly N6 Route follows the national road from East London via Aliwal North to Bloemfontein in the Free State Province. This interesting road passes through some of the Eastern Cape's most beautiful countryside. Discover a treasure chest of outdoor attractions -from the ski slopes of Ben MacDhui to cold trout streams, magical mountain hideaways, lush evergreen forests, ancient San rock paintings, malaria free game viewing, hot water springs, fossil fields, 4x4, horse and hiking trails.

Visit a farm or on Anglo Boer War battlefield or explore the quiet, off-the-beaten track settlements of Barkley East, Rhodes, Lady Grey, Aliwal North, Burgersdorp, Queenstown, Molteno, Elliot, Sterkstroom, Dordrecht and Tarkastad. And all along the way you'll meet the welcoming people whose sunny disposition give the route its name - the Friendly N6.
