Tour 1- Information
Starting at the top of Town Hill in the charming village of Hilton and continuing on the northern side of the N3 to Mount West, Tour 1 covers a variety of differing attractions. With a network of over 800km of tar and good gravel roads, Tour 1 contains 35 Meander outlets, needing at least six hours to cover adequately.
This Tour comprises a surprisingly diverse range of arts and crafts together with spectacular nature reserves and scenery. Items as different as kites and bronze sculptures, Zulu hospitality and shoes give this route a uniqueness all of its own.
Couple this with a number of well-known hotels and inns and you have an outing that will be remembered for a long time to come.The spectacular Howick Falls is a must to see, plunging nearly 100m into the Umgeni gorge below.
Declared a national monument in 1951 and known as "kwaNogqaza" (the place of the tall one) by the Zulu people, these Falls are well worth the visit.
