JAMESTOWN
This little town is situated 55kms south of Aliwal North on the N6 and was named after James Wagenaar, the owner of the farm on which the town was founded. Like many other country towns it was started by the Dutch Reformed Church, and the sandstone church is a lovely example of Victorian Gothic architecture. Jamestown is at the centre of a stock farming which is characterized by wide open spaces and big skies.
