Our Unique Wine Series
The Arosa Ruby is a full rich wine with a beautiful ruby colour on the edges and a ripe berry sweetness while the .Border Colombard Chardonnay is a subtle straw-coloured wine with a refreshing hint of citrus blossom on the nose. These wines were named after shipwrecks found along the Diamond Coast 4x4 Trail . This wine series is an excellent gift, available at the Kleinzee and Koingnaas Bottle Stores and proving to be a very popular
Visit the seal colony
This is a world-renowned resident seal colony strip of more than 350 000 animals on the admiralty is protected by the adjacent mining area. This colony is part of a satellite surveillance project.
Mine Tour
During our mine tour we will introduce you to the toughest of the tough, those mortals who wrench these diamonds from the bowels of the earth. We will show you how successful they've been for over the past 70 years, passing their skill from generation to generation. You may board the massive dragline and watch the operator hoist up to 70 tons of sand with each scoop.
Kleinzee Museum
The museum will introduce you to how operations were conducted during the early stages of mine operations. You will be guided through the various stages of the history of our mines and you will be amazed to see just how we have progressed with time. Throughout the museum there are historical maps, documents and images covering a wide range of mine history.
Diamond coast 4x4 Route
Your journey starts at Noup or Koingnaas Caravan Park 13 km from
Koingnaas. Over the years the stormy Atlantic Ocean prevented many ships from completing their voyages, sending them to a final resting-place along the coast between Koingnaas and Kleinzee. Click on link below fro more information.
ACTIVITIES
The Namaqualand Mine towns of Kleinzee and Koingnaas offer many quality leisure facilities. The crime-free environment will give you peace of mind during all of your activities.
The Kleinzee golf course is carefully maintained and offers a challenge to all golfers.
Other facilities include a tennis court, squash club, bowls club, swimming pools and a recreation club. You can windsurf at the yacht club located a few kilometres from Kleinzee. The recreation club has two bars, a restaurant named, The Rendezvous and the Aloe Lounge. The Aloe Lounge has take-away for those who desire it. You are welcome to take an evening stroll on one of our many crime-free beaches A swim in the cold Atlantic will be a refreshing end to the day.
FAUNA AND FLORA
VEGETATION
Each group of vegetation has adapted its own set of survival tactics .The flora is stunted due to summer southerly gales. The Strandveld Coastal Zone has four different areas, namely the short Strandveld, tall Strandveld, Strandveld Dune Field and the grassy Sandveld. The Strandveld Dune is dynamic with almost no vegetation on the mobile dunes closer to the sea.
The short Strandveld is never more than a knee high and the volstruisvygie its large pink flowers gives a splendid display of colour after the rains. The Strandveld Dune Field is dynamic with almost no vegetation on the mobile dunes closer to the sea. The tall Strandveld vegetation buries its roots deep in the more stabilised inland white sand, where multi-species clumps grow up to two metres in height .The older inland sandy areas are home to the Grassy Sandveld. These plains are dominated by boesmangras and doringgras maintaining springbok and gemsbok, which can be seen in our 20 000 hectare game park.
