A picturesque town on the slopes of the beautiful Olifants River Mountains. The town was laid out on the farm Pomona in 1863 and named after William Porter, Attorney General of the Cape Colony (1839-1866). (24-hour petrol and banking facilities are available.)

Berghoff Protea Export Farm 

Disa Route (Jan/Feb) 

Dasklip Pass. The wide variety of indigenous and rare flowers make a visit to the pass most worthwhile. It is extremely popular for hang-gliding. Camp sites are available.

De Hoek Trout Farm. Produces citrus and deciduous fruit as well as trout. 

Groot Winterhoek Wilderness Area. The Groot Winterhoek Mountain peak is the second highest in the Cape. There are several walking trails. Smaller buck species and several species of bird can be seen.

Sport. Badminton, bowling, golf, hang-gliding, hiking, mountain bike trail, pistol shooting & tennis. 
The Town Dam. Enjoy angling, picnicking or camping in an idyllic setting.
