VENTERSTAD
Venterstad is to the south of Lake Gariep, South Africa’s largest body of fresh water created by the construction of the Gariep dam in 1970. The town is an excellent base to explore the lake and the surrounding Oviston Nature Reserve.

Venterstad was founded by the Dutch Reformed Church in 1875 and was named after the owner of the farm on which the town was laid out.
